Talks about his training camps, leaving from his home state in WA, Fort Benning, Camp Shelby on base experiences and friendships, USS LeJeune across to France, attached to 4th Armored Division, Austria. Talked about rations. Saw Bob Hope in Regensburg. Typhus Hospital in Austria - assisted in getting communications rigged up. When with the 4th Armored came upon Ohrdruf. After the war ended, attached with 869th Field Artillery Battalion. Then, went to 22nd or 42nd Infantry Division to a college program for six months to run hotel. Got to play basketball and travel around Europe. Back in March 1946.

Born in Atlanta; Silver Star; Drafted Fort McPhierson; Camp Shelby Basic Training right after the Division was activated; selected for special training medic then to Fort Bragg for hospital training; Camp Shanks at New Years and he got to go to Times Square; USS LaJeune former German Luxury liner…”I never missed a meal”, he had no issues going across; La Havre wrecked harbor; Camp Lucky Strike “always hungry”; Roger Jachs (sp?) from Bangor ME; snuck out and traded chocolate for some delicious French bread; frostbite; relieved the 26thInfantry Division; Siegfried Line; Actions that earned his Silver Star – read through the orders and then he discussed them; Wars over…stayed at a place that was a resort; was not at the Concentration Camps but he shares memories of other medics who were; trip home and life after the war; Reviews some photos at the end and talks about them

He mentions Le Havre but also says 69th? Can't be 69th and 259th...not sure which.
He also talks about a photo that was taken at his training camp in MS.
Says of Patton..."yes, he was hard but he had to be. We won the war." He won the Purple Heart but he wouldn't take it so they sent it to his mother. Won several others.
